Recently, an article in the Michigan Capitol Confidential examined the use of dues paid to the Michigan Education Association. According to a report by the Center for Public Integrity, $180 of MEA dues go to the NEA, which donated over 30 million to Democratic political causes unrelated to education.

AAE Signs on in Opposition to National Curriculum

The following statement can be attributed to the Association of American Educators Executive Director Gary Beckner.The Association of American Educators has joined a coalition of other influential groups and individuals from across the political and education spectrum in opposition to a nationalized curriculum. In conjunction with opposing a national curriculum, AAE also opposes the ongoing effort by the U.S. Department of Education to have two federally-funded testing consortia develop national curriculum guidelines, national curriculum models, national instructional materials, and national assessments using Common Core's national standards as a basis for these efforts.   Continue Reading...

Teachers Shouldn’t Be Threatened by Reform

Both sides of the education dialogue can agree about one thing when it comes to improving education – having an effective teacher is essential in student learning. This idea is neither liberal nor conservative, rather a simple truth that divides stake holders in its implementation, and shouldn't make American teachers defensive.
