  1. E-Z Grader - Any list of grading tools has to start with the classic E-Z grader.  Designed to work on a percentage scale, this classic small teal cardboard tool is a staple in most classrooms.  Go to the E-Z Grader site and you’ll find that there’s actually a large variety of colors and styles.  You can even find graders designed to be used with different grading systems.
  2. Quick Grade – Converted to the digital age, and are tired of carrying around a piece of cardboard while figuring out percentages?  Quick Grade is the online version of E-Z Grader.  Put in any number of questions and it will display a chart giving the number wrong and the percentage grade.
  3. Easy Assessment – This app designed for IOS, lets you upload a rubric and assign grades on your iphone or ipad.  It integrates with Dropbox so that you can easily import class lists.
  4. LearnBoost – Most modern schools have an online gradebook system in place, but if you’re teaching in one of the few holdouts, Learnboost is the solution for you.  The service is a free, easy, and flexible online gradebook.  It’s stored on the web, so your gradebook is accessible no matter where you do your grading from.  Plus, lesson plans, attendance, and Common Core standards are all integrated.
  5. JumpRope – If you like the idea of an online gradebook, but are ready to move beyond percentage grades, try JumpRope.  The service is designed to work with standards-based grading.  In the program, you list the standards you are assessing and assign levels that reflect overall mastery of that standard.  It also comes with tools to help with the planning of lessons and curriculum and is free to teachers.
