PACE is pleased to award $650 scholarships to four teachers and their classes to attend the Colorado Springs Challenger Learning Center (CLC).  Applications were received from across the state.  Winners were determined based on their commitment to science education and their plans for incorporating information learned through the CLC into their classrooms.  Congratulations to:

John Morlan - Shanner Elementary, Holly

Andy Martinez - Fairview Elementary, Denver

Marn Massar - Shanner Elementary, Holly

Rebecca Royall - Broadmoor Elementary, Colorado Springs

The Challenger Learning Center of Colorado, located in Colorado Springs, offers a realistic on-site or distance delivered Mission Control and orbiting space station simulation.  Students join teams at computer consoles or onboard the orbiting space lab, rev up their imaginations, and work together toward the mission's goal, whether it is the launching of a probe or the interception of a comet.  Teachers participate in a preparatory workshop and receive instruction, lessons, and activities that correlate to their scheduled mission. Challenger Learning Centers are committed to working with educators to help them develop the necessary skills, confidence, and competence to teach space science in their classrooms.
