PACE Awards Ten Scholarships for Educators to Attend the Rachels Challenge Summit
Englewood, CO – The Professional Association of Colorado Educators (PACE), the state’s only non-union teachers association, is pleased to announce that it has awarded ten scholarships for PACE members to attend the Rachel’s Challenge Summit – "Soar to New Heights, Renew Your Mind, and Inspire Your Heart” in Denver, June 23 – 26, 2010. PACE’s contribution of nearly $3,000 will cover the full fee for ten Colorado educators to attend the event.
“As a professional association, PACE is committed to providing professional development opportunities for Colorado educators,” stated Dr. Kris Enright, PACE Executive Director. “The Rachel’s Challenge Summit is an effective and innovative way to engage teachers and provide them with a memorable professional experience.”
The Rachel’s Challenge Summit is in honor of Rachel Joy Scott, the first student killed at Columbine High School. Rachel’s Challenge program started from a tragedy. It has moved from tragedy to triumph through the creation of permanent positive culture changes in schools, businesses, and communities. The ten educators, sponsored by PACE, will be joined by hundreds of K-University teachers, administrators, and teacher support professionals. Attendees will discover how to provide a safe learning environment, develop a classroom atmosphere that builds positive relationships and fosters mutual respect, and learn strategies for addressing bullying, social aggression and harassment.
PACE provides professional development opportunities exclusively for Colorado teachers throughout the year. All Colorado educators are welcome to apply for professional development scholarships. More information can be found at www.ColoradoTeachers.org.
Dedicated to the academic and personal growth of every student, PACE is the premier Colorado professional teachers’ association that advances the profession through professional development, teacher advocacy and protection, as well as promoting educational excellence, so that educators receive the respect, recognition and reward they deserve. PACE membership is only $15 per month and is open to all employees of education institutions. Learn more about PACE at www.ColoradoTeachers.org.
